1 Weekend Hosts needed for visiting Japanese students to LFAS (Nov 21-23)

We are still looking for families to host visiting Japanese students for the weekend of November 21-24. There is an honorarium paid to host families. If you are interested, please reply to Chantal Chorney in the school office by email (cchorney@sd35.bc.ca) or phone (604-888-3113).

 Program information:

We are pleased to again have the opportunity to host visiting Japanese Shintoku High School students November 21 – 24th this year.  We are looking for homestay families who have students in secondary grades.  Please read the following information and let us know if you can accommodate our Japanese visitors:

Schedule:

November 20 – Japanese students will arrive and stay in Vancouver overnight.

Friday, November 21 – Students will arrive at LFAS for the day.  Their luggage will be stored at the school.  We will have a program of activities for the students and will connect them with their homestay family student.  LFAS students and Japanese students will spend the day together at the school doing various activities and attending a class.  Pickup by homestay families will take place after school.

Saturday/Sunday November 22- 23  Japanese students will be included in family activities for the weekend.  Feel free to take students to your favourite lower mainland spots and include them in regular family life (chores, outings, gatherings, church attendance, etc.)

 Monday, November 24 – Students will need to be back at the school by 8:00 am in order to catch the bus to the airport.

Guidelines:

Students will be placed in pairs.  We have one group with 3 girls – if you’re able to accommodate this trio that would be wonderful.  Students may share one room but need to each have their own bed (this could be a bed plus a mattress or a futon).  Homestay families are expected to provide meals for the Japanese students on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.
